There are a couple of conditions needed for a magnet URL to work: DHT has to be enabled and working, or; The URL includes tracker info. If you just started using Transmission the first condition may not be working (Transmission doesn't have enough information to start using DHT, which could point to a problem with the default connection used to kick-start it).
